Giving Birth to the New International Order

The multipolar world will be born when the geopolitical weight of Asia, Africa, and Latin America matches their rising economic weight.

Writing in his cell as political prisoner in fascist Italy after World War I, the philosopher Antonio Gramsci famously declared: “The crisis consists precisely in the fact that the old is dying and the new cannot be born; in this interregnum a great variety of morbid symptoms appear.” A century later, we are in another interregnum, and the morbid symptoms are everywhere. The US-led order has ended, but the multipolar world is not yet born. The urgent priority is to give birth to a new multilateral order that can keep the peace and the path to sustainable development.

«Мы вас видим и больше не делаем вид, что не замечаем», — фактически предупредил глава МИД России Сергей Лавров ту часть российской политической элиты, которая жаждет «вернуть всё, как было до». Лавров заявил: «У нас есть мощная группа лидеров общественного мнения, которые считают, что отмена санкций будет губительна. Потому что чиновники либеральных взглядов тут же постараются свернуть все эти достижения по импортозамещению, суверенизации нашей экономики, производства, по обеспечению безопасности в тех сферах, от которых зависит развитие государства». Лавров — второй после Путина по известности и авторитету в мире русский политик. И когда он признает, что у нас здесь, среди высшего чиновничества, значит во власти (потому что мелкие клерки вряд ли в состоянии «свернуть достижения»), существует пятая колонна — это дорогого стоит.

Mussolini, Franco, Bandera, Lukov - Do not allow Nazi glorification!

You might think it’s news from Absurdistan when you read that 80 years after the liberation from Nazi barbarism, municipalities and larger cities in Europe are still finally taking the step of revoking the honorary citizenship of fascist representatives.

At the end of February, the northern Italian municipality of Salò decided to revoke Benito Mussolini’s honorary citizenship. On the one hand, it is of great symbolic importance that this municipality has finally taken this step, as Salò was the last retreat of the Italian fascists after Mussolini was deposed and large parts of the country were liberated by the Allies and the Italian resistance. Entirely dependent on the Wehrmacht, which had occupied the northern half of Italy since September 1943, Mussolini and his vassals established the “Republic of Salò” in the small town in the foothills of the Alps, a puppet state by the grace of Nazi Germany. It was officially called the Repubblica Sociale Italiana, or RSI for short. This ostensibly “social” state was the radicalized and unleashed version of fascist rule over the whole of Italy, including the persecution of Jews and deportations.
